What TaskHop collects
TaskHop has no account, no server, and no analytics, and Forward Alpha LLC receives nothing from the app. On iPhone it collects no data and uses no third-party SDKs. On Android it uses Google Play Billing for the purchase, which sends Google its own diagnostics (see Purchases).
What you type stays on your phone
The task name and the next task you write down are stored only on your phone. On iPhone, iOS shows them on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island, in StandBy, and in the alarm. On Android, they appear in TaskHop's notifications and on the alarm screen. They are never sent to us.
Android backup
If backup is on for your phone, Android copies TaskHop's settings file to your Google account: the day your free trial started, whether you've unlocked TaskHop, your settings, and the timer that is running, including what you typed for it. This keeps your trial and unlock through a reinstall. When your phone has a screen lock, Android encrypts this backup end to end, so neither we nor Google can read it. You can turn backup off in your phone's settings, under Google, Backup.
Permissions
On iPhone, Alarms is used to ring at the end of a timer, including through silent mode and Focus, and Notifications is used for the five-minute “find a stopping point” heads-up. On Android, TaskHop uses notifications for the countdown and the heads-up, alarms to ring exactly at zero, and a full-screen alarm so it shows over the lock screen; it keeps a service running only while the alarm rings. The timer runs without any of them.
Purchases
On iPhone, the free trial and the one-time purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store. On Android, the free trial is kept on your phone and the one-time purchase is handled by Google Play. We receive no payment details. The Google Play Billing library sends Google its own diagnostic information about how purchases and its connection to Google Play are working, encrypted in transit. That goes to Google, not to us, and contains nothing you typed.
Deletion
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your phone. On Android, you can also remove the backup copy from your Google account's backups. We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing to ask us to delete.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
